"We shall overcome, We shall overcome, We shall overcome someday… Oho deep in my heart, I do believe, we shall overcome someday…"
The Hindi version is familiar to almost every Indian; we used to sing every morning during our school days and children still do it today.
"Hum honge kamayab, Hum honge kamayab, Hum honge kamayab ek din…Ho ho mann hain vishwas,Pura hain vishwas, Hum honge kamyab ek din…"
At that time the in-depth meaning of it was not clearly understood but now we are grown up individuals & whenever we hear it, the vibration of the music brings goose bumps on our body. The song itself is a high waving flag of Hope within our hearts.
There are times in life when we lose hope maybe at least for a second or two but we do and any normal human being does and then one bounces back on track either with the motivational push of others or through self-realization.
When others are there with you to guide you, then there is no worry in actual sense but when it comes to self-realization, the process duration may vary with individuals. For some people it might be very quick and for rest it might be slow, very slow. The problem does not arise that people don’t realize but it actually happens when people do realize & fail to implement the corrective measure for the same. Even I belong to this category, and after I realize, questions surround my memory that what others will think, am I not making fool of myself, etc. It takes real strength to walk against the crowd and perform what is right. "Just because the majority is on one side they don’t prove themselves right." The bottom-line still remains that they are wrong.
If we consider our own self then there are many thousand thoughts roaming around in mind. The majority may force you to commit something which is wrong and on the other hand there will be a single thought alone fighting for its survival.
Take an example of inner realization:
A drunkard or a smoker: Smoking & Drinking is not worst till you control it; it becomes worst when it starts controlling you. People keep on saying that it hazardous to life and stop it as soon as possible. But the true conflict is within the person who follows what the thousand bad thoughts tell him, i.e. to smoke or to drink. It might work as a stress buster or to forget worries but that doesn’t solve the existent problem in his/her life. There will be a thought which must be telling him to actually quit the bad habit but who cares to listen to that thought.
Here lies the issue, self realization might happen but no corrective measure would get implemented. There you need hope for yourself that you can face all odds that are against you and with that single thought you can actually make wonders happen. Remember and sing along that hum honge kamayab ek din…

Take another example to understand outer side’s self realization:
Corruption is our economy’s root cause problem & we all are aware of it. We curse our government that we are not gifted healthy environment, electricity & water supply issues. Yes I agree, we all think every day that we should and we must work on it but god knows how many of us really turn up to this thought. I must salute Anna Hazare for this, I don’t know about his past records & what kind of person he is in his life but I respect that he had guts to face all thousands of people and stand with the right decision. As I said earlier, "just because the majority is on one side, they don’t prove themselves right in any manner."
We talk that the youth of India is enthusiastic, ready for challenges and lot of things. One incident I experienced while traveling in train was really disappointing, it was more disappointing because they belonged to the youth category.
First class compartment is generally considered of high class people who pay hefty amount for their pass and the attitude on their face shows it off. I got in First Class from Ghatkopar after a tiring day at college to go home. As usual I had a chips packet in my hand to satisfy my hunger. Two Girls got in after me and were gossiping their college fun. The compartment had few people standing & the rush was normal, not crowded.
Girls ate their chips & one of them asked me throw the wrapper outside for which I denied saying that throw it in dustbin and for now keep it in bag that’s a better thing to do rather than making our surroundings dirty. They behaved as if they didn’t listen anything of what I said, and murmured that who will do social service, the government never cares and so do we.

They behaved as if they didn’t listen anything of what I said, and murmured that who will do social service, the government never cares and so do we.
Later when the next station was about to arrive, one of those girls threw it outside the running train. The other girl who was watching all this kept asking her friend did you throw it away & other girl kept replying “I threw it OUTSIDE, threw it OUTSIDE.” She stressed the ‘outside’ word purposely and made sure that I hear it loud and clear.
Now in this situation I could have easily taken the wrapper, kept it in bag to throw it away when I see a dustbin. But that doesn’t end the problem or dirt of wrappers in India. The real disappointment is that when we are at home we are not allowed to throw wrappers anywhere but when we are outside why we take the liberty of government for granted & throw useless things anywhere. In Foreign countries people are punished for the same. We talk many things that we are a family & people in India share a Bond then Why not consider India as our house which we are not supposed to make grubby. If everyone among us starts doing this simple gesture, imagine how wrapper free we can keep places around us.
We all might have self-realization for this but how many of us really implement. Yes when I do such things I face expressions of people who gossip that ‘Chale social service karne.’ Rather than getting disappointed because of those thousands of people’s comments, I feel everyone should support the single right thought that "just because the majority is on one side, they don’t prove themselves right."
Another incident happened after a couple of days, when the train reached its last destination everyone hurried to get down and reach home. After all got down from the train, the fans were still switched on so I switched them off. A young person in the gents’ first class compartment who was ready to leave for his home saw this entire thing. His self-realization was so quick that he took his footsteps backwards and switched off all the fans. He stood against all odd thousand thoughts in his mind and did the right thing. Because he realized "just because the majority is on one side, they don’t prove themselves right."
We all must & should try to build strength within us that we can face all odds and be right. Sing along every time you lose hope that we shall overcome, we shall overcome, we shall overcome someday.
The candle of hope should not die with regards to all problems that we face daily because deep in our hearts we must believe that we shall overcome some day.
Hum honge kamayab ek din!
